Recognize Patterns in Input-Output Tables

Are your students learning to determine missing values or identify input-output tables representing additive or multiplicative patterns? If so, we have the perfect resource for you! This math worksheet encourages students to use their critical thinking skills to answer questions in a fun “This or That” style worksheet. Students have to analyze tables and determine a correct answer, and they also have to put their writing skills to use to justify why they chose a particular answer.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Scaffolding

For students who may need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to draw coordinate grids and create a graph for each input-output table. Students can also write equations for each table.

If there are students who may need additional support, encourage them to verbally justify their reasoning or complete just the “This or That” portion of the worksheet. Additionally, this worksheet can be completed in a 1-on-1 setting or with a small group.
