Tip-Off Test Prep! National “Math-ketball” Championships

It’s tip-off time, and we’re headed into test prep season. No one says you have to use boring old workbooks and slides to review your math content…so why not make it a competition with our “MARCH MATHNESS”  Interactive Basketball Championship.

Use Basketball Statistics to Boost Problem Solving Skills

This engaging, interactive simulation activity takes students through a Basketball bracket during the Championship season. The session begins with students using multi-digit multiplication and division to determine the winners in each bracket, leading to the final four, final two, and league championship. From there, students engage in the following activities

  • Analyze basketball team statistics to complete a data table and answer questions to determine the MVP players for three teams.
  • Use data from the Tournament Bracket to determine the ranking of different teams based on information such as points earned, games played, etc.
  • Use data from overall project to determine which player will be named MVP over the entire tournament.
