Lesson Plan
Tuning In

- Does your number line have arrows?
- Do the numbers on your number line increase to the right?
- Are your numbers an even distance apart?

- a straight line with arrows at both ends
- numbers increasing to the right
- numbers an even distance apart.
- Display and discuss slide 15. Complete the activity as a class, then check the answers on slideย 16.

Provide each group with a number line and a recording worksheet from the 2-Digit Number Line Activity Prompt Cards and a handful of counters.ย Read the prompts out to the class. Encourage the students to place a counter on the number that corresponds to the clues read out on the card, then record the number on the worksheet.
- Once the students have finished, discuss the answers as a class.
Wrapping Up
- Provide each student with another blank sheet of paper. Ask the students to draw a new number line from 0-10.ย Once the students have finished, invite them to share their number lines with a partner. Encourage the students to compare their new number lines to those from the beginning of the lesson. Discuss any differences.
