A simplifying fraction maths centre activity.
In this centre activity, students practise simplifying fractions to develop students’ fluency and flexibility, making operations with fractions easier and less labour intensive.
Students roll dice to create a fraction and draw a model of it. Then they use the model to simplify the fraction if possible.
Engage students in this centre while you pull other students for intervention or tutoring.
This activity includes clear and concise teacher and student directions for independent centre work and conversation starters that give students what they need to have meaningful academic discussions.
