Learn Verb Tense

This worksheet has been created by a teacher to help with the teaching and learning of verb tense. This resource can be used as independent practice after a lesson or together as a whole-class activity in the middle of a lesson. Simply project the worksheet on the dry-erase board and work through the questions together. It also works well when slipped into a dry-erase sleeve and used as a reading center activity.

The following activities are included:

  • Match the verb with it’s correct tense.
  • Circle the verb tense that most accurately completes the sentence in four sentences.
  • Complete each sentence using a verb from a provided list. Each word can only be used once.

Using Verb Worksheets in the Classroom

While the traditional way to use worksheets is usually as independent work, they can really be as versatile as you need them to be, here’s a list of suggested ways to use this worksheet in the classroom:

  • Project the worksheet onto a smart board and get students to come up and match the verbs in the first activity.
  • Use the sentences provided on the worksheet as warm up activities that you write on the board.
  • Cut up the worksheet into bits and laminate it, these can then become individual activities students to complete in small group rotations.
