A creative getting-to-know you activity to complete in the first days of a new school year.
Use this activity to create a class puzzle to display in your classroom throughout the school year.
Students draw themselves on a puzzle piece which will then be used to create a class puzzle.
How to create a class puzzle
- Before you begin, work out how many puzzle pieces you will need. Template puzzle pieces for a 3 x 3 puzzle are provided; however, you will need to repeat the middle row of the puzzle according to the number of students in your class e.g. if you have 27 students in your class, you will need a top row of puzzle pieces, a bottom row of puzzle pieces and seven middle rows of puzzle pieces.
- Explain to the students that the class is going to create a puzzle together, with each student contributing one piece.
- Provide each student with a puzzle piece template to draw on. Make sure each student writes their name on their puzzle piece.
- Once completed, allow the students to work together to create the class puzzle. This could remain on display in the classroom throughout the school year.
