New School Year, New Learning Goals!

Kick off the new school year by setting goals in your classroom! This mountain-themed printable template isn’t just easy to add to your lesson plans and awfully cute. The simple layout and mountain imagery offer pupils the support they need to craft personalised and achievable learning goals for a new school year.

Available as a free PDF in colour or in black and white, this teacher-created template provides space for pupils to write 3 shortened versions of their learning goals at the top of the page and a second section at the bottom to elaborate on each goal.

Pupils can then fold the paper in half and stick it in the back of their workbooks or journals so the top section of the template can be unfolded and seen while working.

Learning Goal Examples for Your Pupils

Wondering how to get the most out of this resource? Our teacher team has got you covered.

After you’ve explained why setting goals for personal growth and academic success is important, lead a class-wide brainstorm of different learning goals to get your pupils’ brains buzzing!

We’ve even crafted this quick list of learning goal examples you can offer as part of your brainstorming session to give pupils a boost:

  1. I want to know my multiplication tables for 1-5 by the end of the term. I will practise every night to meet my goal.
  2. By the end of the first term, I will improve my reading fluency from 80 to 95 words per minute. I will read for 20 minutes every day to meet my goal.
  3. I want to be more organised this year. To meet my goal, I will keep my papers in my binder instead of stuffing them into my desk.
