A 60 minute lesson designed to deepen understanding of animal adaptations through inquiry-based research.
Ask the students if they have any final questions about the researching aspect of the inquiry task.
Before allowing the students to begin their research, remind them that:
All information should be recorded in dot-point form.
All information should be recorded in the students’ own words.
All sources used should be listed e.g. website addresses.
Monitor and support the students as they research their animal and environment.
Check on how the students are progressing with their research. The speed at which the students will finish the researching phase of the task will vary. If necessary, provide the students with an additional lesson to collect their information.
Encourage more capable students to collect as much relevant, detailed information as they can from a variety of reliable sources.
Support students with lower literacy levels to access relevant information by assisting them to locate appropriate sources.
