A 60 minute lesson in which students will develop a timetable of daily activities.
Revise the content of the previous lesson by asking the students to recall some the features of timetables.
As a class, brainstorm the various occupations in society which must adhere to a schedule or timetable of daily activities e.g. teacher, doctor, zoo keeper. Record these ideas as a mind map on the board.
Explain to the students that they will be creating a timetable of daily activities for an occupation of their choosing. Encourage them to be as creative as possible in their choices.
Provide the students with a copy of the Developing a Timetable Task. Read through the task as a class and answer any questions students may have.
Allow the students to work through the timetable task independently. Monitor and support the students as required.
Encourage the students to share their timetables with the class. Allow the class to provide positive feedback, as well as suggesting helpful ideas for improvement.
Challenge more capable students to write questions or word problems based on their timetables.
Allow less confident students to work in a small group with the teacher for additional assistance.
