Create the hula hoop analogue clock on the board again. Explain to the students that it is important to be able to skip count by 5s to help tell the time. Use arrow ‘jumps’ around the outside of the hula hoop clock to skip count by 5s until 30. Explain that this is half way around the clock. Continue skip counting by 5s until 60. Explain that this is one full journey around the clock.
Ask the students to skip count by 5s to fill in the boxes around their analogue clock, just like the hula hoop clock on the board.
Ask the students to stand up in a circle. Go around the circle, skip counting by 5s. Instead of saying 30, they need to say ‘half past’. When they get to 60, they need to say ‘o’clock’. They then need to start skip counting by 5s again (starting at 5). Each time a student makes a mistake, they must sit down until there is a winner.
