Ask the students to cut the thirds and fifths pages of their Fractions Flip Book. Ask the students:
Can you show me one third?
Can you show me two thirds?
Can you show me two fifths?
Can you show me four fifths?
Provide each student with 15 counters. Ask the students to divide their collection of counters into thirds. Once they have done this, ask the students to explain their sharing strategies with the class. Complete the same activity using fifths.
