A science experiment which investigates the strengths of solid wood and laminate.

Wood is a strong, durable material that has been used for as long as humans have been making things. The ancient Egyptians and Chinese decided to try to improve on this strength and durability by producing a new material: laminate.

This Chemical Sciences experiment allows students to investigate natural and processed materials and their comparative strengths.

Students follow the scientific method to conduct the experiment, then complete the worksheets provided.

The aim of this experiment is to compare the strengths of solid wood and laminate.

A Krazy Kristian’s Science Show demonstration video is available to show the students how this experiment should be run.
