The Continents of Africa and South America Unit Plan

This Geography unit addresses the topographical features and the natural environment of the continents of Africa and South America.

It consists of 10 lessons of approximately 60 minutes duration.

The sequence of lessons and suggested time frames should be regarded as a guide only; teachers should pace lessons in accordance with the individual learning needs of their class.

Teachers are encouraged to collect samples of students’ work throughout the unit to add to a learning portfolio. These can then be used to assess students’ understanding of the unit objectives.

    This unit has been great for my Year 4's, The inquiry being zoo keepers had them hooked. I made a rubric and used the Africa inquiry as a half way assessment point and will re-assess when they do the South America inquiry the same. Thanks so much TS for a great unit.
