A fun way to help your reluctant writers choose something to write about.

Use this set of cards to jump-start your students’ creative juices when writing a narrative text.

Print out the cards on cardstock and cut them out. Place them on a binder ring for students to use when they are stumped for what to write about.

The cards include ideas about:

  • characters
  • settings
  • complications.

The cards can be used separately, or challenge your students to select a card without looking from each category and write a text including all three!

Looking for a way to use these cards as a whole class? Project one of the cards on the screen and set a timer for 10 minutes. Have your students complete a quick write using the card.

These cards are also a great addition to any writing center!
