Extend Your Students with Advanced Angles

Have your students already mastered the standard angles taught in the primary school maths curriculum?

Let’s face it… once your students can name and classify acute, obtuse, right, straight, reflex and revolution angles, there’s little point in repeated lessons involving these same angle types. Why not allow them to dip their toes in the advanced angle pool of alternate, co-interior, corresponding and vertically opposite angles?

This set of four posters has been designed to introduce these more complex angle types to your upper primary students. Each poster provides a simple explanation of each angle type, along with a visual representation to help students connect the description with a real example. The pack includes the following posters:

  • Alternate Angles
  • Co-Interior Angles
  • Corresponding Angles
  • Vertically Opposite Angles

How to Make the Most of These Advanced Angles Posters

These posters have been created to support you in teaching angle types to your students. You may wish to use them in the following ways:

  1. Print each poster individually on A3 paper and display them in your classroom as a reminder of the various types of advanced angles.
  2. Print multiple posters to a page and provide them to the students to add to their workbooks. The page can then be continually referred to during your angles unit.
  3. Project the posters onto your whiteboard. Cover up certain parts of the poster, then challenge students to add in the missing information.
