Bring the planets in the solar system into focus with a fun worksheet that can be turned into a factbook!

Students use this set of worksheets to create a factbook for their favourite planet in the solar system.

Solar System Activities for Kids 🪐📒

Students research specific information about the planets and record it on the worksheet. A copy of the planet research page can be printed for each planet and then compiled to make a complete factbook. Information that students will need to complete includes:

  • planet diameter (km)
  • distance from sun (millions of km)
  • rotation time (hours)
  • orbit/revolution time (days)
  • average temperature (°C)
  • number of moons
  • ring system (yes/no)
  • main composition (rock/gas/ice)
  • a fun fact

Where in the Universe? 🌌

Students can also learn their place in space by recording their ‘cosmic address’:

  • street
  • suburb
  • city
  • state
  • country
  • planet
  • star system (Orion Arm)
  • galaxy (Milky Way)
  • Cluster (Virgo)
  • the Universe

Team up this resource with our Planets of the Solar System Posters. Students will have all the information they need to complete their fact files.
