Let’s Be Social – Stories for the Classroom

Children can ask others to play in a variety of ways, depending on their personality, social skills and the situation they find themselves in. Let’s take a look at some ways children can ask others to play:

• Start with a friendly greeting: Children can approach others with a smile and a friendly hello and ask if they would like to play a game together.
• Invite them to join in: If a group of children is playing, children can ask if they can join in and play along with them.
• Respect others’ choices: It’s important for children to respect others’ choices if they don’t want to play or would rather do something else. They can ask politely and be open to other suggestions.

The last page of the mini-book also poses a question with three picture choices for students to choose from as their answer.
