A scavenger hunt allowing students to find 2-D shapes in their surrounding environment.

Use this engaging teaching resource when introducing 2-D shapes to your students.

Students look for various shapes in their surrounding environment, whether that be in their classroom, the schoolyard, or their home. The shapes can be stand-alone, part of a larger shape, or a component of a 3-D object. For example, a student may see a rectangular window made-up of small square glass panes and color in a square for the glass panes.

To make this activity a bit more challenging, have your students record the name of the object, its location, and the defining attributes for each shape they find.
