Can your students remember all the number pairs that make 10? Now they can! This bundle of printable PDFs includes 10 posters for your classroom wall, including the Friends of 10, as well as the Friends of each whole number from 1 to 9!

Designed with eye-catching colours, these classroom must-haves were designed to help you as you help your students build fluency in basic arithmetic.

What Are the Friends of 10?

Perhaps you’re not familiar with these friendly maths pairs? Friends of 10 is the name we use for the various pairs of numbers that add up to 10.

These ‘friends’ are made up of whole numbers from 0 all the way up to 10, and the list of 11 sums that are considered ‘friends’ includes the following:

  1. 0 + 10 = 10
  2. 1 + 9 = 10
  3. 2 + 8 = 10
  4. 3 + 7 = 10
  5. 4 + 6 = 10
  6. 5 + 5 = 10
  7. 6 + 4 = 10
  8. 7 + 3 = 10
  9. 8 + 2 = 10
  10. 9 + 1 = 10
  11. 10 + 0 = 10

Perhaps you call these number pairs or number partners? Whatever the name, learning which sums can be paired together to make 10 can help students with both addition and subtraction!

But we didn’t stop with just the Friends of 10 in this poster bundle! You’ll find the number pairs that add up to make 1, the numbers that can be added together to make 2 and so on … all the way up to 10.
