Looking for Community Helpers Worksheets?

Introduce your students to the many men and women in our communities who help us every day.  Learning about the community is a large component of primary-grade Social Studies instruction. We’ve been working hard to develop some amazing community helpers worksheets and activities to help your young learners get to know the people we depend on the most.

These free community helper worksheets engage your young learners in identifying different community helpers. On each worksheet, students are given a picture stimulus to look at. The goal is for the student to identify and write the name of that community helper. Students are provided with a word bank to assist with spelling.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Some celebrations you may want to use this community helpers resource for include:

  • Fire Prevention Week
  • Veterans Day
  • Labor Day

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

  • Lesson warm-up
  • Lesson wrap-up
  • Fast finishers
  • Homework assignment
  • Whole-class review (via smartboard)

For Struggling Students

  • Discuss the images, watch videos, or read informational books about the helpers seen on the worksheets before the lesson. Talk about what each picture shows and what the helper does.
  • Provide an anchor chart or reference to other community helpers’ activities completed before completion.

Easily Download & Print

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or Google Slides version of this resource.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend printing one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

Additionally, you could project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class.
