Monthly writing calendar with 240 writing prompts for the year.

A writing calendar that has 20 writing prompts for each month. Each box in the grid has either a generic or month specific writing prompt. This teaching resource is a great way to encourage writing on a number of different topics.

April and December have two options – with and without Christmas and Easter.

Ideas on how to use this resource:

  • Print out the black and white version and have students stick them in their writing books. A great activity to spend 15-30 mins on at the start of everyday.
  • Use it as a fast finisher activity. Students can highlight the writing prompts they have used on their very own grid.
  • Print out the colour grids, laminate and cut the month and boxes out. The months can be used on a notice board as headings and each month has a pocket full of writing prompts.
