😎 I See My Dream – Martin Luther King, Jr. Drawing Activity

Use this drawing worksheet to support your lesson on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s historic “I Have A Dream” speech.

In the weeks surrounding MLK Day, have students think about what their dream for the world would look like.

By completing this activity, students demonstrate an ability to describe their actions, thoughts, and feelings.

How To Prepare This Resource

Please note this resource downloads as a black and white PDF.

  1. Print one copy for each student (on cardstock for durability).
  2. Students draw the components of their dream world in the sunglasses as if they are looking into the future and it is reflecting onto the lenses.
  3. Students decorate the drawing’s head to look like themselves.

Scaffolding + Extension Tips

In addition to individual student work time, use this “my dream future” activity as a:

  • MLK lesson exit ticket
  • Civil rights movement exit ticket
  • MLK Day activity
  • Homework assignment

Fast finishers can write about their dream on the back of the worksheet. Or, follow up this activity with our ‘I Have A Dream’ writing prompt.

Additionally, students who need more support with these concepts would benefit from completing this worksheet in a 1:1 or small group setting.

Don’t stop there! We’ve got more activities to stimulate engaging MLK lessons:
