Students read the three informative texts provided and underline the informative language features. These include:

  • subject-specific vocabulary
  • the verbs ‘to be’ and ‘to have’
  • adjectives
  • comparative language
  • time connectives
  • phrases showing cause and effect.

The texts included are:

  • The Great Barrier Reef
  • Tropical Cyclones
  • The Giant Squid.

Suggested answers for teachers are also provided.
