Learn Your Students’ Interests on Day 1

We all know that student interest and instruction are closely linked. The more interested a student is in the content, the more engaged they will be in the learning, and the easier it will be for them to connect to new ideas. Therefore, taking time during the initial getting-to-know-you period at the beginning of the school year is crucial.

Use this simple student interest survey with your students during the first week of school to:

  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with your students.
  • Mold your instruction to meet each of your student’s individual needs and preferences throughout the school year. This will really motivate those hard-to-reach students.
  • Recommend materials to your students throughout the year based on their specific interests.

Once the surveys are complete, file them away in your student files to be able to refer back to throughout the year.

Download and Go!

Use the drop-down menu to choose between the PDF or Interactive Google Slide version. Print a copy for each student and you’re ready to go.

TIP: Why not leave a copy on each of your new students’ desks to be completed as they enter the room on the first day?
