Create a worry jar for your students to help them recognise and cope with their worries.

Worry Is a Wasted Emotion!

When left to develop, worries can have a cascading effect on our students.  As we know, an increasing number of children are experiencing stress, anxiety and unease. Children need support when learning how to regulate their emotions, as well as tools and learning strategies to work through these feelings effectively.

Do you have some students that are worriers? Why not provide them with a safe space to put their worries so they can set them aside for a while.

Put Worries Aside… If Only for a While

This resource has been designed to help students recognize their worries (an important part of emotional awareness) before making a conscious choice to set their worries aside for a period of time (a healthy coping strategy).

Use the labels in this resource to create a classroom (or student) worry jar. Various label sizes are included. Place the jar and the accompanying worry slips in an easily accessible place in your classroom. If they feel the need, students can write a worry and place it inside the jar. They can close it up tight and set their worry aside for the time being.

This download includes:

  • Jar labels
  • Worry slips (with and without lines)
  • Worry exploration worksheet
