There is a small twist to be aware of, though… the video does not contain the ending to the story! This has been done purposefully to allow your students to further develop their reading comprehension skills by making predictions about how the story might end, based on what has happened in the story so far.

(Spoiler: The video stops just as The Gingerbread Man reaches the stream with the wolf hot on his trail!)

Activity Ideas for This Gingerbread Man Video

This video of The Gingerbread Man story makes a great alternative to more traditional versions of the tale. It lends itself particularly well to comprehension skills such as making predictions, inferences and connections. Here are some activities you might like to complete in conjunction with this video:

  1. Connecting – The little girl in the video is baking gingerbread men with her father. Ask the students to think about a time when they did a special activity with a family member and share this experience with the class.
  2. Inferring – The gingerbread man bravely escapes the house when the little girl isn’t looking. Have the students use clues from the story to make inferences about The Gingerbread Man’s character traits. 
  3. Predicting – Have the students predict what might happen to The Gingerbread Man next. Will the wolf eat him? Will he try to cross the stream? Will someone come and help him?
