30 dominoes to consolidate students’ understanding of converting fractions to decimals.

Use this teaching resource when teaching your students how to express tenths and hundredths as a fraction and as a decimal.

Print the domino cards and laminate them.

Provide each student with a domino card. As a class, match the equivalent fractions and decimals to make a line.

This could also be used as a small group activity, or as an individual extension task.

Grade 4 > Standards for Mathematical Practice > Number & Operations - Fractions > Understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions > CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NF.C.6
Use decimal notation for fractions with denominators 10 or 100. For example, rewrite 0.62 as 62/100; describe a length as 0.62 meters; locate 0.62 on a number line diagram.

  • These don’t connect properly – some of the numbers don’t match and others cut off and you’re left with three that go together and with nothing else.
