Common Core State Standards alignment
Grade 1 > Standards for Mathematical Practice > Operations & Algebraic Thinking > Work with addition and subtraction equations > CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.D.7
Understand the meaning of the equal sign, and determine if equations involving addition and subtraction are true or false. For example, which of the following equations are true and which are false? 6 = 6, 7 = 8 - 1, 5 + 2 = 2 + 5, 4 + 1 = 5 + 2.
Grade 3 > Standards for Mathematical Practice > Operations & Algebraic Thinking > Multiply and divide within 100 > CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.C.7
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
Grade 3 > Standards for Mathematical Practice > Operations & Algebraic Thinking > Solve problems involving the four operations, and identify and explain patterns in arithmetic > CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.D.8
Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
