Practice using different parts of speech in a written piece of speech with this grammar activity.
This teaching resource allows you a flexible way for your students to practice different parts of speech. Students will love the challenge of planning keywords and using them to create interesting sentences.
In your classroom, you can brainstorm a weekly topic or integrate it using the content your classroom is currently studying. Brainstorm with your students how key ideas from your topic can link to a focused part of speech. For example, if your topic is “The Beach” and you are studying verbs, brainstorm all the verbs that relate to the beach. Students are given 10–15 minutes to craft a paragraph focusing on the chosen part of speech. Then your students must underline, circle or highlight all of the focused part of speech in the designated color at the bottom of the sheet. Alternatively, if you have a different color theme, you can print the black-and-white version and customize it to suit your needs.
