Use this teaching resource to develop a quick recall of basic number facts.
Students use their knowledge of Friends of Ten and Rainbow Facts to connect the rainbows by matching the numbers in the clouds, making a total of ten when added together.
Print, cut, and laminate a class set of the rainbow cards and store in a zip-loc bag. Individually, or in small groups, students connect the rainbows on the cards.
Common Core Curriculum alignment
For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation.
Understand subtraction as an unknown-addend problem. For example, subtract 10 - 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8.
