Teach Your Students How to Be Good Listeners

Good listening is more than just hearing words! Being a good listener involves fully engaging with the speaker using your eyes, ears and heart. By being attentive, understanding non-verbal cues and responding with empathy, students can build stronger relationships, improve communication skills and create a more supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

This set of classroom posters has been designed by our expert teacher team to remind your students of the skills required to be a good listener. The set includes one main poster that highlights the three key components of good listening – listening with your eyes, ears and heart – along with three individual posters that delve deeper into each specific skill.

  • Listening with Your Eyes – This skill emphasises the importance of maintaining eye contact and observing non-verbal cues.
  • Listening with Your Ears – This skill highlights the need for active listening, paying attention and avoiding distractions.
  • Listening with Your Heart – This skill encourages empathy, understanding and responding thoughtfully.

This set of good listening posters downloads as a full-colour or black-and-white PDF.
