The Mona Lisa has vanished! This immersive tale of lies and intrigue takes students on an adventure to the Louvre, France. Can your students find the clues and crack the case?

It consists of 9 chapters of approximately 60 minutes duration.

The suggested time frames should be regarded as a guide only; teachers should pace lessons in accordance with the individual learning needs of their class.

While the learning experiences in this adventure have been specifically designed for Year 5 and 6, the content may be modified to suit other year levels.

 Overview

Objectives

  • To set the scene, to introduce the Adventure Agents to the investigation, and to determine that the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre in Paris, France.
  • To read through the witness statements, meet the suspects and start piecing together the timeline of events.
  • To study the evidence provided and write a newspaper report informing the public that the Mona Lisa has been stolen.
  • To have Adventure Agents analyse three of the five police interviews and complete Suspect Character Profile worksheets on each witness.
  • To have Adventure Agents analyse the remaining two police interviews and complete Suspect Character Profile worksheets on each witness.
  • To have Adventure Agents analyse the latest evidence and use the security guard timetable and procedure sheet to determine who had access to the Mona Lisa at the time it was stolen.
  • To have Adventure Agents listen to, and analyse transcripts of, the second round of police interviews and to successfully answer comprehension questions about them.
  • To ascertain who is innocent and who stole the Mona Lisa.
  • To have Adventure Agents figure out Margeaux's motive, decipher the code that will open the suitcase found in Margeaux’s apartment and reveal the missing painting.

Your students, the Adventure Agents, will be taken on a learning journey where they are required to piece together the clues and information provided to crack the case of the Missing Mona Lisa!

Now it's time for the Adventure Agents to learn some of the main characters and look at their witness statements. They will have the first pieces of this fun puzzle!

Chapter 3 introduces the Adventure Agents to the evidence collected so far and requires them to write a newspaper report informing the public that the 'Mona Lisa' has been stolen.

This chapter of the exciting Missing Mona Lisa Adventure provides the Adventure Agents with three police interviews from the five main suspects. What extra clues will they provide to help find the thief?

This chapter provides the Adventure Agents with the two remaining police interview transcripts and an extra very important piece of evidence has just been discovered!

The Missing Mona Lisa – Chapter 6: Evidence and Opportunity

The Adventure Agents will begin bringing all the information from the witnesses and evidence together to start forming a picture of what happened on the night the Mona Lisa was stolen.

The truth comes out in this chapter and the Adventure Agents are able to start using all the information they have collected over the previous chapters to start eliminating some suspects.

It's getting closer now - the Adventure Agents are closing in of the thief. They now need to write a persuasive piece in order to get a warrant. Time is of the essence!
