Explore non-metamorphic and metamorphic life cycles with our printable ‘Odd One Out’ Animal Classification Handouts.
Odd One Out! Animal Classification Handouts
Give your students a fresh way to think about life cycles with our engaging “Odd One Out” Animal Classification Handouts.
Instead of simply sorting animals, students are required to analyse small groups of three or four animals and determine which animal does not fit based on whether it has a metamorphic or non-metamorphic life cycle.
These Animal Classification Handouts encourage students to move beyond simple scientific questioning and into critical thinking and reasoning. These printables will help you guide them to truly understand the difference between metamorphic and non-metamorphic life cycles.
Identify the Animal That Doesn’t Belong in the Group
On this printable worksheet, students will:
- Examine groups of three and four animals
- Identify the animal that doesn’t belong in the group
- Circle or colour their choice
- Explain their reasoning using life cycle vocabulary
Because students must support their answers, they practise using academic speech and reinforce their knowledge of what defines metamorphosis.
