What’s It Made Of? Comparing Materials Worksheets

Help your primary students practise identifying everyday materials with this engaging set of cut‑and‑paste Comparing Materials Worksheets. Designed for early years, these printable Comparing Materials Worksheets guide students as they look closely at familiar objects and decide what they’re made from.

Each worksheet features a set of common items and three sorting columns (Material A, Material B, and Both Materials) so students can compare, classify, and think like young scientists.

Is It Made of Metal? Glass? Or Both? Let’s Find Out!

Across the seven worksheets, students explore pairs of materials such as:

  • metal vs. wood
  • glass vs. metal
  • rubber vs. metal
  • stone vs. metal
  • fibre vs. wood
  • paper vs. metal
  • wood vs. rubber

On each page, students will:

  • Cut out a set of everyday object pictures
  • Examine each object closely
  • Decide whether it is made from one material, the other material, or a combination of both
  • Paste the object into the correct column
