A wheel of strategies that students can use for the various emotions they may experience.

When teaching social-emotional learning to students, it is important to show them different strategies they can use to process their emotions. This wheel can help students identify the emotion they are feeling and the different strategies they can use.

How this teaching resource works:

  • The centre ring contains emojis to show different emotions.
  • The words in the second ring describe the emojis.
  • The outer ring contains strategies that students may like to use when they are feeling these emotions.

Cut out the wedge on page 2, being careful to leave the paper centre circle as a pivot point. Place the wedge over the Emotion Strategies wheel and insert a brass fastener through the centre circle on the ‘x’. To choose specific strategies, turn the wheel until the emotion is completely inside the wedge.

An editable version is available to download so you can customise strategies for specific students. Use the drop-down menu to choose your download.
