This set of educational posters details a simple definition and sentence examples for nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, proper nouns and conjunctions.
Nouns are naming words (place – beach, object – apple, person – Henry, animal – cat)
Verbs are action/doing words (ate, swim, bake and sing)
Adjectives are describing words (rainy, spotty, huge, green)
Adverbs are words that describe a verb (softly, quickly, carefully, happily)
Proper Nouns are names of people, places, objects and events (Sam, London, Adidas, Christmas)
Conjunctions are words that join phrases of clauses together (for, and, but, even)
How to use this resource:
- A great visual resource to display in your classroom. Students can refer to it when needed.
- Use it as a word wall. Each poster is a heading with a list of words that the students can come up with that match the parts of speech label (nouns, verbs and adjectives).
