King’s Coronation Printable Craft Activity (Design Project)

Engage your students in learning about the history-making coronation day of King Charles III. This design/craft activity is both a creative activity and a great way to learn about the symbols that represent the royal family and what happens during a coronation. You may like to take this opportunity to spend some time learning about the New Monarch and the process of a coronation ceremony. Check out our A New Monarch Teaching PowerPoint if this is what you would like to begin with.

Please note: Learning about the coronation of King Charles III and other events connected to the British Royal Family can be triggering to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people groups, due to the ongoing trauma faced since the point of colonisation.

King Charles III will begin his reign with growing pressure to honour treaties with First Nations People and repair some of the damage caused by the process of colonisation. These resources aim to share information on King Charles III’s life and the coronation ceremony traditions.

✂️ Give Them the (Safety) Scissors

This template makes for a bonus cutting skills activity, depending on your students’ ages and abilities.

With adult supervision, cutting skills help students work multiple muscle groups and their brains, plus:

  • strengthen finger and hand muscles
  • build dexterity and fine motor skills
  • improve hand-eye coordination
  • develop focus and attention.

And all of these skills are necessary to use a pencil and a fork; button a shirt and tie shoes; write, type and swipe.

Scissor skills are brain and muscle skills!
