Find a Friend Style Worksheet for Exploring Expanding Numbers

In this engaging worksheet, students must find friends who can work out several expanding numbers mathematics questions. Students can explore number expansion in a friendly and cooperative environment by working with classmates. There are several benefits to this style of worksheet, including the following:

  • Collaborative learning – promotes cooperation and teamwork among students.
  • Comprehensive understanding – discussing and explaining answers to each other reinforces a deep understanding of number expansion.
  • Diverse perspectives – by working with different classmates, they’ll gain access to various problem-solving approaches and strategies.
  • Improved social skills – encourages social interaction and communication, which enhances social skills and also builds a sense of community in the classroom.

This isn’t just a worksheet; it’s a collaborative learning experience! Who would have thought a single worksheet could provide so many different learning opportunities?

How to Use This Resource in the Classroom

This worksheet aims to have all of the questions answered by a different classmate. This resource is best used in the classroom once expanded from up to 6 digits and has been explicitly taught and practiced. When you provide the worksheet to the students, provide guidelines for the activity, including:

  • Encourage students to find different friends for each question.
  • Explain that the goal is to collaborate and learn from their classmates.
  • Highlight the importance of understanding the process, not just getting the correct answers.
  • Emphasise the benefit of working together to solve challenging questions.
