Dive into Dot Day Collaborative Art!

Are you ready to dive into some exciting International Dot Day festivities? Do you want to try something new and different, or would you like something to bring your students together for Dot Day? If so, this is the perfect resource! This Dot Day Collaborative Art Colouring Mural is the perfect way to create something special to help your students work together to make a mark on the world!

This Dot Day Collaborative Art colouring template is the perfect Dot Day activity to do with your class. Students will use markers, crayons, or colored pencils to complete this activity.

Colourful Collaborative Artwork for the Whole Class!

To create your colourful collaborative artwork, do the following.

  1. Print the template, then cut along the dotted lines to create individual pieces.
  2. Distribute the pieces of the template to the students. Each piece has a right side and a wrong side. The right side has a number written in the bottom right corner. Ask the students to turn the paper over and lightly record this number in pencil on the wrong side of the paper. (This is just in case the number becomes obscured by their colouring.)
  3. Students then flip the piece back over and fill the template with lines and patterns.

Once the students have completed their work, the artwork is assembled by gluing the pieces, in number order, onto a large sheet of butcher paper, or you can build a colourful Circle Art / Dot Day Display board by stapling the mural directly to your board. A guide is provided to see what the completed artwork should look like.

Appropriate colours should be used to make this collaborative art activity come together. It is suggested that you don’t use a black marker as it will interfere with the lines already drawn on the template (which are part of the artwork).

Using only 25 sheets of standard copy paper, the collaborative Dot Day mural has been divided into 25 pieces to suit most class sizes.
