Teaching Resource
Year 5 Daily Warm-Up – PowerPoint 1
An 84-slide PowerPoint presentation containing a variety of quick warm-up activities.
Display an activity on your interactive whiteboard when students enter class each day or return from a break.
The various tasks are linked to literacy and numeracy and include activities such as:
- word of the day
- punctuation
- sorting and ordering
- secret words
- mystery numbers.
Students can write their answers in a workbook or complete the activities collaboratively.
The activities in this teaching resource vary in complexity and in the time taken to complete them. To ensure you don’t repeat an activity, change the heading to red or simply move completed slides to the end of the presentation.

Renette Roth · Dec 19th, 2019
Hi Renette,
I see you are having a problem opening this PowerPoint.
Sometimes this error happens with older versions of PowerPoint or some school versions which prevent PowerPoint templates being opened.
Can I get you to try something for me? Please right click the file and select ‘Open’ from the menu. This should allow you to access the file without the error message.
Alternatively, if you are on a Mac, open the PowerPoint app by itself and then open the file by navigating to it in the File/Open menu (usually in Downloads). This should bypass the error for you.
If there is anything else I can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
