Research & Learn All About Decomposers Activity

Ready to take your science instruction into the digital age? You’re in the right place! This Digital All About Decomposers Activity slide deck gives students the chance to research, organise, and present their learning about decomposers from around the world, all within a ready-made Google Slides/PowerPoint template.

Designed for in-class use, this All About Decomposers Activity transforms students into researchers as they investigate the organisms that break down dead matter and recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem.

Each student creates their own presentation, building a personalized collection of decomposer fact files.

Discover a Variety of Decomposers and How They Help Ecosystems

The Decomposer Research template is carefully structured with one slide per decomposer. Each slide includes clearly labelled text boxes for students to complete:

  • Decomposer Name
  • Type (fungus, animal, or bacteria)
  • What It Eats or Breaks Down
  • How It Helps Plants and Animals

Students then add images, labelled diagrams, or original drawings to visually represent each organism.

Learners using this activity will research examples such as mushrooms, earthworms, ants, or dung beetles and discover how these organisms play a critical role in nutrient cycling across ecosystems.
