Creative Ways to Use Holiday Spelling Words in Your Classroom

Forget the standard pencil and paper test… There are many more exciting ways to bring these holiday spelling words to life in your classroom! Here are a few ideas from our team to get you started:

• Festive Word Art – Turn these spelling word lists into a festive classroom display! Have students choose a word, then write it in a creative font accompanied by fun illustrations. This allows students to express their creativity while also reinforcing spelling knowledge.
• Christmas Spelling Bee – Host a friendly class competition using the differentiated lists so all students can participate at their level. Add festive flair by decorating the room with lights, playing cheerful Christmas music and awarding small prizes or certificates for participation to make it a fun event for everyone.
• Spelling Ornament Craft – Have students write each of their spelling words on paper ornaments, then decorate and hang them on a classroom “Word Tree.” It’s a fun way to review words and create a festive vibe in the classroom.
