Counting Objects – Sorting Activity

This sorting activity includes 18 cards and 5 mats. Each card has different numbers of objects, ranging from 6-10. The student will count the number of items on the card and place it on the correct sorting mat. This is an excellent activity for developing number sense and teaching students how to sort objects by a given number.

Through this activity, students will show they have one-to-one correspondence and can accurately count numbers 6 to 10.

In addition to individual student work time, this counting game can be used to enhance learning through guided math groups or as a fast finisher activity.

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need help understanding the concepts by providing counters for students to place on each object. Students can then move them away as they count each card. Additionally, provide access to previous assignments, as well as posters and anchor charts for students to recall past lessons.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

For students who need more of a challenge, encourage them to show each number with their fingers or represent the number with manipulatives.
