Review the properties of rocks that allow for natural resource storage with a printable Finding Fossil Fuels Cut and Paste Worksheet.
Dig Up Some Learning With a Hands-On Natural Resource Worksheet
Help your fourth graders dig up and discover the essential role rocks play in storing Earth’s natural resources with this engaging, interactive cut-and-paste activity. This printable Natural Resource worksheet helps students connect their knowledge of rocks with the storage of fossil fuels like oil, coal, and natural gas deep within the Earth.
We’ve designed this fully editable Natural Resource Worksheet to support the following TEKS and NGSS standards:
- S.4.11.C – The student will be able to determine the physical properties of rocks that allow Earth’s natural resources to be stored there,
- 4-ESS3-1. Obtain and combine information to describe how energy and fuels are derived from natural resources and how their uses affect the environment.
This cut-and-paste activity gives your students a unique opportunity to review what they have learned about natural resource storage on Earth.
Finding Natural Resources Cut and Paste Worksheet
With this two-page Natural Resources Cut and Paste Worksheet, students will read a series of statements about fossil fuels, rock layers, and the physical properties that make rocks capable of storing resources.
After reading, they will cut each statement apart and sort it into True or False categories. This gives students a hands-on way to process and review new content and show what they’ve learned about the concept. The worksheet comes with an answer key for easy grading and self-checking.
Note: This resource is fully editable, so if you’d like to modify or change any statements to better match your curriculum standards, make sure to download the Google Slides version.
