What is flag day? Flag day is celebrated on June 14th and is a day in which we honor the American flag. It is typically celebrated with ceremonies, parades, and picnics throughout the country.

With this resource, students will learn why this special day is celebrated, when it is celebrated, and what the unique parts of our flag stand for.

Through this activity, students will understand that holidays are celebrations of special events. Students will be able to explain the importance of Flag Day and why it is celebrated.

In addition to individual student work time, use this holiday-themed mini-book to enhance learning through guided social studies groups, whole class lessons, or remote learning assignments. 

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts: 

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need support understanding the concepts by completing the book in a 1-on-1 environment or with a small group. Additionally, students can reference previous classwork, posters, or anchor charts when completing this activity.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

For students who are fast finishers, encourage students to draw a picture of themselves celebrating Flag Day on the back of their mini-book.
