Use this resource when teaching students about different types of ecosystems.
What is a desert?
Plant life: Little vegetation can grow in the desert; cactus, succulents, and other tough plants with small leaves can survive.
Climate: Dry, hot, and sunny all year round; 100°F is expected during the day and 32°F or colder during the night. Not all deserts are hot. Antarctica and the Arctic can be called cold deserts.
Annual rainfall: Less than 10 inches
