Printable Whole Class Wreath Template

This resource is a printable template for a whole class wreath to use during Anzac Day ceremonies or to display in the classroom. The wreath is a traditional symbol used to commemorate the sacrifices made by Australian and New Zealand soldiers in the First World War and subsequent conflicts.

The wreath template is designed to be printed over multiple pages and can be used as a collaborative project for the whole class. It is an excellent way for students to work together and learn about the significance of Anzac Day.

To use the template, print out and provide students with coloured pencils, markers or crayons. Each student can then colour in their poppy. It is advised to print the circle shape to form the backing of the wreath on thick white card and have students paint this green; alternatively, you could print this on thick green card and have the students focus on creating their 3D poppy to be stuck on the wreath backing.

✂️ Give Them the (Safety) Scissors

This template makes for a bonus cutting skills activity, depending on your students’ ages and abilities.

With adult supervision, cutting skills help students work multiple muscle groups and their brains, plus:

  • strengthen finger and hand muscles
  • build dexterity and fine motor skills
  • improve hand-eye coordination
  • develop focus and attention.

And all of these skills are necessary to use a pencil and a fork; button a shirt and tie shoes; write, type and swipe.

Scissor skills are brain and muscle skills!

It is advised to print the circle shape that forms the base of the wreath on thick white or green card to ensure durability once the students’ poppies have been stuck on.
