A table of adjectives covering a variety of topics.

A fantastic teaching resource to use during the writing process. This word mat will give your students ideas on how to add more detail to their writing.

How do I use this resource?

  • Print and laminate and have available at writing stations.
  • Print a copy for each student and have them stick the word mat in their writing books.
  • Have students cut out one or two boxes at a time and focus on these descriptive language groups.

Hi, TeachStarter. I love your resources, but please make corrections to the nouns that have been listed under the ‘sound’ category. Some ‘ing’ endings should fix the problem. Thanks!

Could this be made in colour with some pictures. Making it attractive to the children.
Also can the words be put in alphabetical order to make it easier for the kids.

Can other words mat be made for nouns, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions. Also can they be in colour with pictures and in alphabetical order.

I did put this in as a request a while ago.

THANKS

Bec · Oct 15th, 2015

Hi Bec,

Thank you for your comment. We can certainly put the words in alphabetical order and change the pictures to create a colour version. I will let you know when this has been done.

For the other word mats, please feel free to request some more here: https://www.teachstarter.com/request-a-resource/

Kind regards

Please add one more column on the 2nd row to ease my OCD 😛

Patricia Cochrane · Sep 13th, 2015

Hi Patrica,
Thanks for your comment. Perhaps this could be an activity that the students could do? They could create their very own group 🙂
