A fantastic teaching resource to use during the writing process. This word mat will give your students ideas on how to add more detail to their writing.

How do I use this resource?

  • Print and laminate and have available at writing stations.
  • Print a copy for each student and have them stick the word mat in their writing books.
  • Have students cut out one or two boxes at a time and focus on these descriptive language groups.

    Could this be made in colour with some pictures. Making it attractive to the children.
    Also can the words be put in alphabetical order to make it easier for the kids.

    Can other words mat be made for nouns, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions. Also can they be in colour with pictures and in alphabetical order.

    I did put this in as a request a while ago.

      Thank you for your comment. We can certainly put the words in alphabetical order and change the pictures to create a colour version. I will let you know when this has been done.

    Hi, TeachStarter. I love your resources, but please make corrections to the nouns that have been listed under the ‘sound’ category. Some ‘ing’ endings should fix the problem. Thanks!
