An investigation that will have students observing the energy usage in their classroom and proposing action to reduce energy waste.

Use these worksheets when investigating the usage of electrical energy in your classroom.

Greenhouse emissions are one of the most important environmental issues of the 21st Century. In this audit, students will record observations on their classroom’s energy usage, and suggest actions to reduce energy consumption.

Investigate the energy usage of classroom areas such as:

  • Lighting
  • Heating and Cooling
  • Electrical Appliances

This sustainability teaching resource lends itself well to cross-curricular integration with Literacy. Students could extend their learning by writing a speech to propose a course of action to further reduce their energy use.
