Clock Labels for Teaching Analogue Time

These printable clock labels provide a visual reference to support students as they learn to read analogue clocks. The resource includes minute interval labels, as well as time vocabulary cards featuring terms such as o’clock, five past, quarter past, half past and quarter to.

The pack also includes PAST and TO labels that can be added to classroom clocks and displays to reinforce the language students use when describing time.

Use these telling time labels to help students:

  • recognise five-minute intervals around a clock face
  • understand the relationship between minute markings and time language
  • correctly use past and to terminology
  • develop confidence reading analogue clocks
  • strengthen time-telling fluency through regular visual support

Flexible Ways to Use These Clock Labels

These clock labels can be used in a variety of ways throughout your classroom:

  • Classroom displays – Create a large teaching clock with time labels around the face
  • Interactive whiteboard lessons – Refer to the labels during whole-class instruction
  • Small-group support – Use with teaching clocks during guided maths sessions
  • Student reference tools – Display near learning areas for easy access
  • Time-telling centres – Incorporate the labels into hands-on time activities

The clear visual format makes this resource a useful scaffold for students who are developing confidence with analogue time.
